Open lecture “Comparative analysis of European and Ukrainian ecological legislation, policies and practices”

Representatives from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module project “Monitoring of environmental objects in the context of European integration” (MEOUE), funded by the Erasmus+ international technical assistance program of the European Union, visited Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum № 24 on October 22, 2024. Professor S.A. Kurta, Doctor of Technical Sciences from the Department of Chemistry, and other project participants delivered an open lecture to the 11th-grade students of Class 11-A on the topic “Comparative Analysis of European and Ukrainian Environmental Legislation, Policies, and Practices .” In his lecture, Professor Kurta presented slides and photographs in a detailed presentation on the environmental situation in Ivano-Frankivsk and the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine. Special attention was given to comparing pollutant levels in EU countries neighbouring Ukraine with the legislatively permitted concentrations.

The students of Class 11-A, together with the event organizer, Lyceum № 24 Chemistry and Biology teacher Ivanna Barnas, asked questions with great interest regarding the environmental situation in Ivano-Frankivsk and other cities in the region, the impact of military actions on atmospheric conditions, and the potential dangers of air pollution on the health of students and all residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
