In an online meeting, the team of the project “Monitoring Environmental Objects in the Context of European Integration” (MEOEU), implemented within the framework of EU international technical assistance (Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules) at the Department of Chemistry of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, exchanged experiences with colleagues from the Institute of Biology, Chemistry, and Bioresources (IBCB) of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. https://nnibhb.chnu.edu.ua/.

Project coordinator, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, Olha KhATSEVYCH, introduced the IBCB team to the concept and primary objectives of the MEOEU project, its target audience, tasks, and expected outcomes. She emphasized the necessity of the project due to the lack of structured information on leveraging advanced practices for implementing the European Environmental Safety Strategy and the absence of educational courses familiarizing students with EU countries’ approaches to addressing key environmental monitoring issues.

During the discussion, participants reviewed the stages of involvement in Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module programs, from registration and application submission to implementation and the reporting mechanism for the first year. Associate Professor Sofiia FEDORCHENKO shared her experience in teaching educational components and organizational aspects at the institutional level. Associate Professor Ihor MYKYTYN highlighted current topics, the specifics of project proposal formation, structuring project phases, and management aspects for further implementation.

Outcomes of the meeting:

  1. Planned initiatives: Guest lectures and webinars for students of the educational programs “Agronomy,” “Chemistry,” and “Land Management and Cadastre” at IBCB of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
  2. Joint research directions: Identified common areas for collaborative scientific research in agronomy and chemistry.

The colleagues from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University expressed their gratitude to the MEOEU project team from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University for sharing practical experience, which will contribute to developing IBCB’s international activities. They look forward to mutual educational and scientific collaboration and anticipate engaging activities within the project for IBCB students.
