On December 5, faculty members of the Department of Chemistry at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University delivered an open lecture at the private Ivano-Frankivsk high school “VS School,” where students focus on in-depth studies of subjects, including those with an economic orientation.
As part of the grant project “Monitoring Environmental Objects in the Context of European Integration,” supported by the EU, the project team shared current information with youth, educators, and the public about Ukraine’s European integration processes in the fields of environmental protection and climate change, as well as monitoring environmental pollution, particularly air quality.
Associate Professor Ihor Mykytyn emphasized the importance of fostering both economic and ecological awareness and responsibility among young people. During the lecture, Sofia Fedorchenko introduced the students to online resources providing real-time air quality monitoring results in Ivano-Frankivsk, particularly from the Ukrainian public system LUN City AIR and the nationwide network for public air quality monitoring EcoCity. These tools enable city residents to analyze daily indicators and study the ecological situation, helping to improve their environmental awareness and respond promptly to changes in air quality.
Professor Serhii Kurta demonstrated the use of rapid-analysis devices, including automatic air quality analyzers, a formaldehyde analyzer, a radiometer, an octane and cetane meter for gasoline and diesel, as well as portable devices like a conductometer and a refractometer.
Today’s high school students represent the future of our country. Undoubtedly, they will soon live and work in a European Ukraine, abiding by European laws and principles.
