On May 15-17, 2025, the team behind the grant project “Monitoring of environmental objects in the context of European integration” (101127251 – MEOEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH) held a three-day online webinar with participation from natural science educators from the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The speakers shared with the participants of the webinar current data on the state of environmental objects in Ukraine and the EU, modern methods of monitoring them, the dynamics of approximation of legislation, technologies and methods of environmental monitoring to EU requirements in connection with Ukraine’s European integration. Particular attention was focused on finding ways to solve the acute environmental problems of the Carpathian region. One of the key topics was the operation of the Dombrovsky quarry — a unique man-made facility that could either pose a cross-border environmental threat or offer a chance to revive Ukraine’s potash industry.
Amid wartime conditions, when security and survival take priority, environmental protection becomes a serious challenge. However, even in such circumstances, it is important to continue to popularise environmental education, encourage positive behavioural changes, rationally use natural resources, consciously manage waste, preserve ecosystems and implement the principles of a sustainable lifestyle. These are the daily steps that every Ukrainian can take.
