“Applied Chemistry in Action: From Environmental Monitoring and Miltechnologies to a Fire Show”

We are sincerely grateful to the dedicated teachers for their fruitful cooperation and are pleased to share our professional experience to help students gain a deeper understanding of chemistry.

On May 21, senior students from the private educational institution IT Step School visited the Department of Chemistry. They had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge by becoming acquainted with the implementation of the project “Monitoring of Environmental Objects in the Context of European Integration”, which is being implemented with the support of the EU at the Department of Chemistry.

As part of this project, the students attended an optional course lecture and conducted laboratory work on the topic “Determination of Air Quality by Express Methods”. Discussions covered key issues related to Ukraine’s European integration in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, and the active role of civil society in these processes. Such engagement motivates students to participate actively in the environmental life of their communities.

The joint work of science and talented youth opens up new opportunities and contributes to the formation of a conscious generation of citizens ready to influence the future of our country.

We also discussed the crucial role of applied chemistry as a component of miltech (military technology), in light of ongoing public discussions sparked by an important and thought-provoking article recently published in the online outlet Ukrainska Pravda: https://www.pravda.com.ua/columns/2025/05/18/7512839/

And finally, of course, there were vibrant color reactions and the beloved fire show.
