Loving chemistry also means sharing this passion with others. This is how we work with young people in our classes for the optional course “Monitoring of Environmental Objects in the Context of European Integration”, which is carried out as part of a grant project of the same name: we present important topics in an engaging way, explain complex ideas clearly, and allow each participant to conduct experiments on their own.
On May 26, students of grades 9–10 studying natural sciences at Kalush Lyceum No. 10 had the opportunity to carry out laboratory work during our workshop held within the framework of the optional course. In particular, they performed:
-
vivid analytical reactions for heavy metals;
-
titrimetric determination of sulfate ion content in environmental objects;
-
an introduction to online air quality monitoring.
We are sincerely glad to meet such bright, inquisitive students and hope that our initiatives will deepen their interest in chemistry and eco-analytical activities, and inspire them to pursue future careers in the natural sciences.
