In the turbulent ’90s , some Ukrainian universities made demands that term papers and diploma projects were handwritten. In despair, they tried to stop a wave of texts made in the “copy-paste” method. Now the situation has changed significantly. Modern information technologies easily detect fragments from outside sources, even after translation. Rewriting from the books, dissertations, and technical documentation loses its meaning. However an unconscious author has to write in one’s own words, but after humiliating explanations in relation to reasons of borrowing. Weekly “Mirror of the Week” analyzes the state of the problem.
