On January 12th, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new procedure for awarding a Doctor of Philosophy. So, from now on, postgraduate students will defend their dissertations in a one-time Specialized Academic Council, and the academic degree will be awarded by the University rather than the Ministry of Education in Ukraine.
This decision by the Government was announced by Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, head of the secretariat of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA) on his Facebook page.
